KN Cognitive Hypnotherapy

Helping you to live the life you wish to live.

About Me

Hello, I'm Katie Nash and I am a Cognitive Hypnotherapist. I began my professional life as a solicitor, working in a London law firm. After eight years in the legal world I found myself being drawn away from the drafting, negotiating and documentation side of the job and more towards the people side. I frequently found myself in long conversations about clients' lives and wellbeing, and soon realised that I was more interested in assisting them with their emotional issues than legal. After having my two children I decided to finally listen to my inner knowing and left the legal world. This began a life affirming journey which ultimately led to me retraining as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist with Trevor Silvester, the founder of Cognitive Hypnotherapy at the renowned Quest Institute based at Regents University, London.

I now use Cognitive Hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming to help clients reach goals, overcome obstacles, and live the lives they wish to live.

I am based in Brentwood, Essex and work face to face locally or online with clients all over the world.

What is Cognitive Hypnotherapy?

Cognitive Hypnotherapy or QCH Therapy helps you move forward in life by enabling you to become "unstuck", be it stuck in a fear response when triggered, stuck in a state of anxiety, or simply stuck in when trying to answer the question of what comes next for you. It is also highly effective in helping people overcome mental blocks (at work, in the achievement of goals, in relationships), in boosting confidence, and in overcoming imposter syndrome. Clients who have received Cognitive Hypnotherapy report that they are often happier because they are able to live in alignment with the person that they have always wanted to be, are more in touch with the inner workings of their mind and better equipped to deal with highs and lows of life.

It is a short term, solution focused talking therapy. It has its origins in hypnotherapy, but utilises a range of evidence of based techniques from different therapeutic disciplines (including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), positive psychology and Gestalt). It seeks to work out how your unconscious mind is playing a part in the creation of your issue. It is a modern approach to therapy which, by uncovering and challenging, often life-long, subconscious beliefs and programming, equips clients with the knowledge and tools they need to enable them to make lasting change.

For more information about how Cognitive Hypnotherapy works please watch this short video:

A study published in the Mental Health Review Journal in 2015 recorded that 71% of 118 people receiving Cognitive Hypnotherapy (from practitioners trained at the Quest Institiute) in the treatment of anxiety and depression considered themselves recovered after an average of 4 sessions, compared to 42% of those using other therapeutic approaches. Fees & Sessions

I offer a free initial 20 minute telephone consultation. This is a chance for you to ask any questions you might have, for me to understand what it is you'd like to work on, and, most importantly, for you to see if I'm the right therapist for you.

I usually see clients every two weeks for between 3 and 6 sessions. This is just an average, therefore you may require additional sessions, depending on the issue we're working on. The first session is a history take during which we will take a detailed look at your issue. Following this session I develop a treatment plan, tailored just for you. This will include personalised recordings for you to listen to between sessions. I will also teach you numerous tools and techniques which can be used "in the moment", whether that be in the midst of a panic attack, at the height of a big emotion, or simply when you need an instant boost of confidence.

This is your therapy, your time and, together, we can help you move forward in a way that's most beneficial for you.

Sessions last between 60 and 90 minutes. I would suggest allowing the full 90 minutes for every session if possible.

I charge £80 per session.

Sessions will take place in my clinic based at the Brentwood Clinic of Complementary Medicine, at my clinic in Upminster, or from the comfort of your own home via Zoom.
